SKU Landed Cost Spreadsheet With Freight, Duty, and Fees
Factory unit price is only the start of what each SKU actually costs you. Freight, duty, broker fees, and insurance sit on top of it, and until those are allocated you cannot price, forecast margin, or compare suppliers on equal footing.
This Excel worksheet is built for importers running multiple SKUs on the same shipment. Enter unit cost and quantity per line, then allocate freight, duty, and fees across the load. Line landed cost and landed cost per unit calculate themselves so you can paste the result into inventory, P&L, or a pricing model.
What is in the landed cost spreadsheet template
| Field | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| SKU | Your internal product code. Keep it identical to the PO and inventory sheet. |
| Description | Short product name so mixed lines stay readable when you share the sheet. |
| HS code | Classification used for duty. Six digits minimum; longer if your broker requires it. |
| Qty | Units on this shipment for that SKU. |
| Unit cost (FOB/EXW) | Supplier price per unit in the settlement currency, before inbound freight. |
| Line goods valueauto | Qty multiplied by unit cost. |
| Freight allocation | Share of ocean/air freight assigned to this line (by value, weight, or CBM). |
| Duty / tariff | Duty and Section 301 or similar surcharges assessed on this line. |
| Broker / other fees | Customs broker, ISF, harbor maintenance, insurance, and similar fees for this line. |
| Line landed costauto | Goods value plus freight, duty, and fees for the line. |
| Landed cost per unitauto | Line landed cost divided by qty. |
Mistakes this template is designed to prevent
Leaving duty out until the entry arrives
Duty is knowable from HS code and declared value before the container sails. Waiting for the broker invoice means you priced and advertised on a cost that was always incomplete.
Splitting freight evenly across SKUs
Equal shares understate dense or high-value lines and overstate light ones. Pick a method (value, weight, or CBM), stick to it for the shipment, and write it in the header so the next person can reproduce it.
Mixing currencies without a conversion rate
A CNY unit cost next to a USD freight invoice produces a landed cost nobody can trust. Convert every input into one settlement currency and record the rate and date on the sheet.
